Dear readers
How was Christmas?
Mine was superb, family was all gathered and we had a great
time.
Family reunions are always tough to organize, we want
everything to be perfect, in order to provide the best experience possible to our loved ones.
We have to think about the appetizer, the fish dish, the meat
dish, deserts…not to mention setting the most beautiful table possible and
Christmas ornaments all over the house. These fixed (house ornaments) and
variable costs (food and table) tend to escalate, if we don’t take control of
everything meticulously.
It’s obvious that you won’t get to a break even point (even
if some people bring things to compensate your outgoings), however, there are some tips that we can use in order to minimize
a little the negative Operating Income (don’t tell the government but I won’t pay
taxes) ;)
This year I
did some DIY decorations, it's a fantastic way to relax, save some money and if you have kids...to entertain them. You will be amazed if you check the prices of these items. I calculated savings of approximately 80€.
Hope you like the ideas and test some next year.
1. Pinecones ornaments
Spray some pinecones with white ink, attach a ribbon to them. The white in the pinecones will really pop out against the green of the boughs.

2.Felt Ornaments
Old Santa Claus and festive llama: I used some templates I took from this website to cut the felt, hot glue, some old pompoms and fabrics I had in the house and hung them up with a loop of ribbon hot-glued to the back.

3. Coffee filter Garland
First, get together 12 ruffled coffee filters, randomly mixing white and natural-colored ones. Staple the center. Do this 20 times, this will produce a 3 meter garland. Make a hole in the center of each stack with a nail and join them in a piece of twine.

4.Mitten Tree
I had a lot of old mittens in the house and discovered this idea on the internet.
A triangular wall display with pompom ornaments in pastel shades to the “branches.”
